Whilst hair loss is totally natural, if you want to do something about it help is at hand.

In this article we will show you

  • The best products for stopping hair loss
  • The best grooming products for thickening hair

So if you want GREAT hair you’re going to love this guide

Lets dive right in

Medicines/Supplements

Biotin

Biotin has been referred to as natures magic cure to hair loss

We at TenT know this to be true. We have developed the purest form of Biotin available to ensure we deliver the best possible results.

The reason for the importance of TenT’s manufacturing is because the majority of Biotin supplements (tablets and Gummies especially) are made poorly. Using anti-caking agents, bulking agents and sugar to produce cheaper products.

Anti-caking agents, bulking agents and sugar are not bad for you (well maybe sugar), however they carry no nutritional value and interrupt the ingestion of the required supplement. An example would be – 5000mcg gummy Biotin, due to the other ingredients, you would at best ingest 50% off the stated 5000mcg (it is also worth noting that gummy vitamins are not regulated by any government health organisation and therefore their ingredients are not checked).

So what is Biotin?

Biotin is a B vitamin that is an essential nutrient, most often found naturally in food. You get it from eggs, salmon, cauliflower, avocado and cucumber. Its function in the body is to support our metabolisation of carbohydrate, protein and fat.

However, the average person’s diet does not intake enough Biotin to truly help stop hair loss and a lack of Biotin can lead to hair loss, brittle hair, weak nails, fatigue and dry skin

How Biotin works?

Biotin supports not only our metabolism, but it also strengthens Keratin (a tough protein that hair is made off), by helping to support and strengthening the core protein within hair, Biotin stops the hair loss process and bolsters each strand, allowing hair to look thicker and fuller.

Finasteride

Finasteride is an oral drug which can be taken to slow hair loss.

Originally developed to help men with large prostrates, Finasteride, often known as Propecia, works by decreasing the amount of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in your body. DHT normally causes your prostate to grow larger.

The decrease in DHT helps prevent your prostate from growing larger. It also leads to decreased hair loss of the hair on your head.

Whilst Finasteride is proven to help hair loss it does come with some potential side effects

Finasteride Side effects-

Common effects:

  • decreased sex drive
  • trouble getting or keeping an erection
  • ejaculation disorder
  • increase in breast size and tenderness
  • skin rash

Serious side effects:

  • swelling of your lips, tongue, throat, or face
  • depression
  • lumps or pain in your breasts
  • nipple discharge

Do note it is safe to take both Biotin and Finasteride together. But we would still recommend taking TenT Biotin to ensure you are getting pure Biotin and not potentially harmful other ingredients.

Grooming Products

Coming from a grooming background and having had to deal with hair loss I can give a comprehensive list of the products that I believe help stop hair loss and thicken hair.

Shampoo & Conditioner

A good hair loss shampoo and conditioner can certainly help ensure that your hair is always looking thick and, in some cases, can help reduce hair loss.

Most hair loss shampoos concentrate on including caffeine in their formula, this is because Caffeine is shown to energise and stimulate hair. A good example of this is Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo

When picking a shampoo also look for brands that incorporate Biotin and Saw Palmetto into their formulation.

Having tried most of the shampoos on the market I would recommend Nioxin, they do a range pf shampoo and conditioner that are aimed at the different stages of hair loss. I was recommended to try the brand by my barber, and it was some great advice I am now passing on.

Hair Styling Products

There is a huge range of hair styling products that promise thicker hair. Here is my summary of the products that work.

A good Sea Salt spray is a fantastic way to increase the density of your hair. It replicates the effect that a day at the beach has on your hair.

‘Sea Salt adds extra thickness and a gritty texture to hair, making it look fuller and more rigid. It also simply makes hair easier to style’ Murdock London Head Barber - Miles

The best way to use Sea Salt spray is to apply to damp hair and work it through with your hands while using a hair dryer. You can then either leave it for a more natural messy look or then apply your finishing product- like a wax or clay.

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray

The product that I would recommend the most to ensure your hair looks it’s thickest is a spray, but not a Sea Salt spray.

I believe the best styling product for creating thicker hair is Label.Men Thickening Tonic. This is a spray that is designed to transform limp or flat hair and build thickness for a fuller look. The best way to apply, is to damp hair, then dry with hairdryer and either leave for a natural look or apply finishing product for desired look.

Hopefully this has helped you a little with choosing the best in class products for ensuring your hair doesn’t fall out and remains looking thick at all times.
